Lead Singer and Organizer
Eddy Robinson is an Anishinaabek person (Ojibway/Cree) born in Toronto originating from Garden River & Missanabie Cree First Nations and is a member of the Crane Clan, which is a leadership clan of the Anishinaabek People. The belief in the value of Native culture and heritage has been a life leading transition for Eddy. Singing traditional music has been his passion since he was 15 years old and has taken him too many places, the power of the drum has helped him turn his life around. Growing up struggling in Toronto has been a journey and it has been through singing which inspired him to pursue producing Morningstar River’s first CD “Oldskool Mentality”, which was nominated for an Aboriginal Music Award at the Canadian Aboriginal Music Awards in 2004 for Best Traditional Pow wow Album, as well as a 2007 Dora Award in a collaborative musical effort for the Redsky Performances production “Shimmer”.
It has been through singing that he found another passion for his culture like many others dancing pow wow style. Within the recent past Eddy has started to Grass Dance, which is one of the original styles of men’s dance in the pow wow arena.
